Synchronise Password

Sometimes passwords can get out of synchronisation across different systems that use your Unikey or you require your one password to be used on all of your Unikey accounts. Then you will need to use this tool.

When to use this tool:

  • This tool can be used when you know what your password is but you cannot log into one system when you know your password works for everything else.
  • This tool can also be used if you have multiple accounts when you know a password for one of your accounts and not the other. This will change the password across all other accounts to the same one as the one that you know.
  • If you have just been migrated onto to Exchange system and you need to synchronise your password with that system.

Before you use this tool:

When you have multiple Extro/Unikey accounts before you try and resynchronise your passwords across all of your account, this tool will show you all the accounts which this password will propagate across.

If the Password Synchronisation Option fails:

If you receive the message that the password is incorrect and you have tried again with what you think it may be and it continues to fail you will need a new password. If you have a secondary Extro/Unikey account and you know the password of that account then you can use that account username and password to synchronise across all of your accounts.
If all accounts passwords are unknown to you then you will need to either contact your Master User, the ICT Helpdesk or in person to an ICT Access Labs.

Manage Email Aliases

When you are given your UniKey account the login is normally in the format of 4 letter and 4 numbers. Your email address is UniKey_login@usyd.edu.au

While you can not change the login to your email account, you can set an alias for your email address, something that is easier to remember.
Your email alias will be in the following format:
something@student.usyd.edu.au or
something@staff.usyd.edu.au
